Question: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

For me, it depends on how good a book is. If a book is really, really good, I'll just read that one book. Sometimes I'll read two books at the same time if I can't pick which one I want to focus on.

Review: Modelland by Tyra Banks

Title: Modelland

Author: Tyra Banks

Publisher: Random House Children's Books

Published: 9/13/2011

Source: Library

Summary from Goodreads:
No one gets in without being asked. And with her untamable hair, large forehead, and gawky body, Tookie De La Crème isn’t expecting an invitation. Modelland—the exclusive, mysterious place on top of the mountain—never dares to make an appearance in her dreams.

But someone has plans for Tookie. Before she can blink her mismatched eyes, Tookie finds herself in the very place every girl in the world obsesses about. And three unlikely girls have joined her.

Only seven extraordinary young women become Intoxibellas each year. Famous. Worshipped. Magical. What happens to those who don’t make it? Well, no one really speaks of that. Some things are better left unsaid.

Thrown into a world where she doesn’t seem to belong, Tookie glimpses a future that could be hers—if she survives the beastly Catwalk Corridor and terrifying Thigh-High Boot Camp. Or could it? Dark rumors like silken threads swirl around the question of why Tookie and her new friends were selected . . . and the shadows around Modelland hide sinister secrets.

Are you ready? Modelland is waiting for you. . .
My thoughts/review:
I wanted to read this book because I was curious to see what it was about. It was very different. It was about Tookie and how she is not the typical idea of beauty. Her parents don't pay as much attention to her as they do her little sister Myrracle. Myrracle is beautiful but dumb. Tookie gets picked to go to Modelland and makes friends with girls who looks just as different as she does. They each has their own quirkiness about them such as: one girl is really short, one girl is albino and one is plus size. I can honestly say I have never read anything like this. You have to really love America's Next Top Model and Tyra Banks to get into the story. It felt like a sci-fi version of America's Next Top Model. Once I got passed page 100, it got pretty interesting and I couldn't put the book down.Tyra has a crazy imagination. She's very descriptive. There were some really deep issues once you got past all of the craziness and wierdness of it all. There were topics of low self-esteem, self harming, family issues, body issues, eating disorders, self-acceptance, and a little romance. It was pretty good. It had an uplifting and encouraging message about inner beauty and believing in yourself.
