Review: Delilah's Daughters by Angela Benson

Title: Delilah's Daughters

Author: Angela Benson

Pub date: 1/28/2014

Publisher: William Morrow Paperbacks

 Source: Edelweiss

Summary from Amazon:

An inspirational story about the allure of fame and the faith that binds a family forever . . .
Delilah Monroe has done everything in her power to keep her three daughters strong since the death of her husband. And a big part of that connection is their singing group, Delilah's Daughters. Veronica, Roxanne, and Alisha each have their own unique sense of self, but they all share the dream of Delilah's Daughters hitting the Billboard charts.
Now, just as they enter the final round of a national talent show, a record producer approaches Veronica with the promise of fame . . . if she goes solo. Then the man Delilah has always leaned on wants more from her than just friendship, and someone from her past comes calling with a shocking secret. Will Delilah be able to hold her family together?
My review:

Delilah's Daughters is about sisters Veronica, Roxanne and Alisha and their mother, Delilah, finding their way after losing a gospel singing competition. The lost was the tip of the iceberg. As the story of this family unfolds, we learn about family secrets, scandals and there were even a few love connections. This book reads like a soap opera or a movie. It was filled with drama. I liked how the sisters interacted with each other and how the story was fast moving. I didn't like the character Tia. She got on my nerves most of the time. Overall, this was a fabulous read and I recommend it to anyone who likes a family oriented story with faith-based values.

Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teasers:
Inside, the room was ridiculously mournful. There were torturous-looking folding chairs arranged in an oval and industrial carpeting the color of worn asphalt.
