Follow Friday!

Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

This is a good question. Three is not enough. Off the top of my head, I would spend an hour long brunch with Jackie Collins, Jennifer Lancaster and Katrina Spencer. Also, Danielle Steele and Rebecca Wells.:) Those are my Fab Five.

Review: Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

Something Borrowed
I've finally read Something Borrowed. I read it after I saw the movie and the book is better than the movie. I had a better understanding of the movie after reading the book. It was really good. I liked it.

This book is about Rachel White. She's the best friend of Darcy who is getting married to Dexter. Rachel is the Maid of Honor. She is the good girl who follows the rules until she sleeps with her best friend's fiance' on her thirtieth birthday. It's basically about friendships and betrayal. I liked that it was told in Rachael's voice.

Rachel is like the insecure friend that just coasts along and does everything Darcy says. Darcy came off as bossy, narcissistic and pushy. It was almost like you wanted Rachel to take Dexter from Darcy because Darcy is the "chosen one" who gets everything she wants. Dexter wasn't really all that important. He wasn't a strong character. I didn't like him. I felt like he was stringing Rachel along at times. I liked Dex at the end. The ending was familiar to me because I read Something Blue and I was like 'Hey, I know these people!' It was in that book, but through Darcy's eyes.

I loved this book. I felt like I was in New York at the bars and The Hamptons. Emily writes to where you feel like you are living in the book like a mini vacation. It was fabulous.

Q. Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?

This question is easy because I have never finished a terrible book. If I don't like a book, I either put it down or I might go to the last chapter and see how it all ends.

Two Mini Book Reviews

This post will include mini reviews for Kardashian Konfidential and Mommywood.

Kardashian Konfidential Kardashian Konfidential is by Kourtney, Kim and Khloe. This book is about their lives from when they were little to present. It has a lot of pictures and notes written by them and other family members. The writing was sometimes confusing because it was in all of their voices except for the times they actually said who was talking. I learned some stuff I didn't know like how they hand write their own cards, how they had to take care of their own cars when they were younger, and how Kourtney went to college. Some stuff  I already knew about because of the show and interviews like how they always wax and never shave and how Kim wasn't comfortable in her body at first. In the book, Kourtney says she is the master waxer, but I remember in an episode of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami where Kourtney burned Khloe with the wax while trying to give her a bikini wax. It was an ok book. If you are a die-hard Kardashian fan, read it.

MommywoodMommywood by Tori Spelling is a book about her being a wife and mother. She parallels her experience of being a kid with her parents to how she wants to raise her own kids. This book felt familiar because I have watched their show, Tori and Dean. A lot of the stuff that's in the book was explained in the show like how Mimi La Rue died, how Tori had to hide her pregnant belly from the paparazzi because she didn't want the press to know yet, how Dean is a daredevil, and how Liam is a daddy's boy. I liked a lot of the stories in here because they were so funny like a couple of swimming incidents with poop and how Liam can recognize Tori in the tabloids. Overall, this was a good book. It was a light, summer read.
