Summary from Amazon:
Leslie Quinn might have been dumped by her longtime boyfriend, but she still has her determination to make it as a top stylist at an exclusive Manhattan department store.

Busy dodging knives from her back stabbing co-workers, Leslie keeps her focus on doing the best job possible and going on the occasional (and unsuccessful) blind date to keep her friends off her back. When her manager offers her a last minute plum assignment, Leslie packs her bags to meet a mysterious client who is in need of a complete wardrobe overhaul.

She soon realizes that this mystery man holds the key to her success at work and also to her heart.

My thoughts/review:
Leslie Quinn is a 20 something working in Manhattan at a high end department store and she wants to be a stylist. After her boyfriend dumps her, her best friend Paige takes her out for drinks and tries to cheer her up. Her best friend speaks her mind and doesn't sugar coat anything. I liked her. She was a crazy character. She balances Leslie's somewhat shy personality. I didn't like Leslie's ex. He was all kinds of wrong. This book was a treat to read. I liked the irony in it. It was short, sweet and funny. I don't want to say too much, because I don't want give anything away. It was a fabulous read.

Question: Activity! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most...

I like to read anywhere I can sit down, relax and chill with a good book. I don't really have a favorite place.

Book Review: All That Glitters by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez

Summary from Good Reads:
A young Latina professional cheerleader in Houston with dreams of being a photojournalist finds a mentor in a powerful older African American woman sports agent. As their friendship grows, each woman ends up mentoring the other as they each seek to balance love, life and career. Satisfying romances for both women, with men you come to love. Poignant tale of friendship and family.
 My thoughts/review:
All That Glitters is about two totally different women, Zora and Mackenzie, forming an unlikely friendship because of their unique situations. Mackenzie is the 20-something Latina cheerleader, who wants to make everybody happy except for herself. She wants to become a photojournalist and make a difference by shining a light on issues that she's passionate about. She sees Zora and realizes that she wants to be just like her because Zora comes off as being a strong black woman who doesn't take nothing off of anybody not knowing that Zora is dealing with her own issues.

Zora is a 30-something sports agent who can't seem to get over her ex, but seems to have everything else under control. She projects herself as a woman who knows what she wants and gets the job done. When she meets Mackenzie, Zora is working being her no nonsense self and Mackenzie gets taken under Zora's wing. They help each other out. Mackenzie helps Zora to loosen up and Zora helps Mackenzie to be more assertive. My favorite character in the book is Rosie, Mackenzie's aunt. She was very colorful and gave Mackenzie good advice.

This book was short and sweet. It had a good message. The message I got from it is to do what makes you happy. Follow your own dreams and not somebody else's dream for you and if a guy's not right for you, dump him. Don't suffer with somebody that you know is bad for you. This was a fabulous book. Other books by Alisa that I love: The Dirty Girls Social Club and Dirty Girls on Top.

Q: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What's the most unique character name you've come across?

The most unique names that I have come across is Peeta, Katniss, and the characters in Divergent. I can't remember the names, but they were different. I don't read to many books where people have really weird names.

Review: Successful Women Think Differently: 9 Habits to Make You Happier, Healthier, and More Resilient by Valorie Burton

Title: Successful Women Think DIfferently: 9 Habits to Make You Happier, Healthier, and More Resilient

Author: Valorie Burton

Source: NetGalley

Summary from Goodreads and Amazon:

Popular author and professional certified coach Valorie Burton knows that successful women think differently. They make decisions differently. They set goals differently and bounce back from failure differently. Valorie is dedicated to help women create new thought processes that empower them to succeed in their relationships, finances, work, health, and spiritual life. With new, godly habits, women will discover how to: focus on solutions, not problems, choose courage over fear, nurture intentional relationships, take consistent action in the direction of their dreams, and build the muscle of self-control.
In this powerful and practical guide, Valorie provides a woman with insight into who she really is and gives her the tools, knowledge, and understanding to succeed.
 My thoughts/review:
I found this book to be very encouraging. Valorie coaches you throughout the book and all you have to do is have a notebook and pen ready. She asks important, key questions that will have you thinking and discovering new things about yourself. After I read this book, I felt empowered to do what I needed to do in order to be a better me. My favorite part of the book was the stories of the women who were successful, and who she coached. The examples made it come alive and made it plain just in case you didn't get what she meant the first time. I also liked the end of each chapter where she wrapped it up so you wouldn't forget what you were reading and why.  I recommend this book to women who need to be inspired, want to start over in their lives, or just feel the need to improve upon themselves. This was a fabulous read and I enjoyed it!
